Caring for the environment is part of Kudadoo’s core values. Sustainability of natural resources as well as social responsibility are at the forefront of everything we do; from solar cells that power the resort in its entirety and sustainable building material to environmentally conscious activities including actively sorting and where appropriate the recycling of waste material, amenities and food. At every touchpoint at Kudadoo we aim to minimise our impact on the environment.

Being located in a fragile environment, the island has an intimate understanding of the importance of preserving and protecting nature for the future, and puts a big emphasis on social responsibility toward local communities as well. While being sustainable from the outset, to be in sync with nature, Kudadoo will continue to strive to exist in harmony with nature and actively raise awareness to inspire others to follow suit.

Kudadoo prides itself on a range of undertakings that establish it as one of the Maldives’ most sustainable resorts. Keeping the health of the precious natural environment and consequently yours in mind with everything we do, to the best of our abilities, Kudadoo is an eco-hideaway where luxury and nature prominently complement each other.

Water is life

Desalination and water bottling

Further decreasing Kudadoo’s environmental footprint is its supply of glass-bottled drinking water from a plant on a nearby sister property. This proximity reduces the amount of plastic and significantly reduces carbon emissions related to transport.

Solar power

A fully solar-powered resort

The Retreat’s roof incorporates 984 solar panels that span an area of 1643m2 and can produce 575MWh of power annually and generate a peak power of 320kWp, enabling Kudadoo to be purely powered by the sun.

Minimising single-use plastics

Kudadoo says 'No, thank you!' to plastic straws and utensils known to cause significant damage to the health of our planet. Sustainable, biodegradable materials are used instead to help protect the environment from debris and microplastics that poison our ocean and consequently our lives that inevitably depend on it.

All wood, originates mainly from Canada, New Zealand and Indonesia, and have been sustainably sourced and managed, inflicting no damage to wildlife and land.

Possessing a thorough understanding of the importance of high-quality food for healthy living, our Executive Chef sources nothing but the best produce and ingredients for your dishes. Whenever possible, fish and seafood is caught locally from suppliers that use sustainable practices such as line fishing, which ensures there is no bycatch.
